Jessica Fobert is hosting

Address: 1678 Concession Road 7 Adjala, Tottenham L0G 1W0

I'm happy to have people show up at 7pm for the upcoming meeting. This will be more of a demonstration evening because the owners aren't ready to have horses coming on the property yet for liability reasons. My plan is to demonstrate some liberty work with my mare who knows a little more, and to demonstrate how to teach some liberty to a horse who is new at it. I'm also going to introduce the group to "horse agility" using liberty work- this is a Canada-wide sport that has been getting more popular for those of us horse lovers who cannot ride, or who want to do something different with their horses.I will also touch on the topic of different methods that people can use to achieve liberty - my favourite being with "Clicker training" - so I will introduce that method as well. One more big thing I will cover during the meeting (Which is very exciting for me!!) is a project that I have been working on for a few years, and I would like to take some time to ask WHOA for input and volunteers to be a part of the project. I need to keep this part more of a secret until the meeting, but hoping that if we mention this idea that it will entice people to come out!! We have a heated tack room, indoor arena and plenty of space for parking. If the driveway is still too messy that I will put a sign at road to part on road and walk in. Please bring a chair and snacks to share!

The topic for this evening - Talk about Tack. Get out your old gear and get it ready for the Caledon Tack swap. Chat with other members about sharing a table at the swap. Kristy Gasparini will bring and talk about some interesting training devices. Let's pick eachother's brains: what's the difference between a standing and a running Martingale? How do I keep my feet from slipping in the stirrups? What does a pessoa do? We'll ask some knowledgeable saddle folks to come and talk about saddles too. Don't forget to bring a snack or beverage to share, and $5 for the 50/50 draw. You could be a winner! See you there on Tuesday!

We are almost ready and very excited to be hosting a WHOA monthly meeting on young horse training basics and establishing good equine behaviour as they go hand in hand.  We have 2 young horses Kria and Laera that Syd will be working with.  Both have not been handled this year as Syd was away in Kentucky and Germany so it will be just like the events with big clinician :).  So she is going to do a brief intro with them on Monday by herself and Tuesday they are on stage.  Lets hope for a positive outcomes but any challenges that present themselves can be dealt with in a safe controlled method as Syd has had numerous young horse experiences over the past 3 years in Kentucky and Germany with great trainers to learn from.

The WHOA event has pushed me for the big much needed clean up at the farm.  (Plus it is helping us prepare for Hills of Headwater farm tour this year too).   We will have coffee, cold drinks, and some sort of snacks but others can bring along what they like.  We have lots of chairs but if it easy for anyone to bring a chair than please do so.   Please post for everyone to dress accordingly. We do have a pellet stove in the shop but just in case the weather goes real wacky like the other day, dress warm and for the outdoors.  Please post for us and all are welcome.

There will be a sign at the house  (as this is our emerge # address and where GPS takes you) directing everyone around the corner to the barn driveway and hopefully 2 more with one at hwy 9 and Albion Trail and another at Halls Lake and Mount Wolf road.

I hope many  can make it.

Regards

Brian and Wendy
